How to find us.
By road: At the Woodford Green Waterworks Corner roundabout take the A406 towards Ilford. Keep in left hand lane then branch left, and then merge onto road (signposted Chigwell, Gants Hill). At Charlie Browns Roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Southend Road - A1400 (signposted Gants Hill). Turn left onto Roding Lane North. We are halfway down next to Redbridge Garden Centre
By Bus: Travel to the Co-op store opposite the green in Woodford Bridge on the 275 or W14. Roding Lane North is opposite the Co-op store and Growing Kids is half way down Roding Lane North next to Redbridge Garden Centre.
By Train: Travel to Woodford Station on the Central Line. Then get the 275 bus (see above)
A minicab office is located at Woodford Station.
The Growing Kids Project is an innovative growing and community learning space
Our aim
To provide the children, families and those responsible for their care living in the Woodford area of the London Borough of Redbridge a better start in life.
Objectives.
•To provide a teaching and learning space for children and young people to grow their own fruit and vegetables.
•To bring an understanding about where the produce comes from.
•To engage in practical physical exercise.
•To promote a positive community atmosphere where all can work together.
•To eat locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables, changing attitudes about food and maybe trying something new to eat.
•To enjoy being in the outside environment showing awareness and respect for wildlife that inhabits the environment.
We want to see all those that are involved in the project making healthy lifestyle choices - a healthy balanced diet, regular exercise and promoting community cohesion. All of this as they gain the knowledge needed to produce their crops and show respect for the outside environment.
Our staff are always happy to discuss the learning experiences that you will have with us so that we can tailor make our sessions to the specific needs of those you are responsible for.
All Growing Kids Staff comply with Safeguarding Policy and Procedures and have all completed satisfactory CRB checks.
Our site and all activities have been fully Risk Assessed
